Resource Recommendations - Books and Music

Written for the girls receiving God's Girls Newsletter, April 2011.

From Lady Theophilus

Greg Howlett’s CDs of gentle piano music (some with orchestration too), specifically hymns. We enjoy listening to this just about any time, doing our Algebra, driving somewhere, or going to sleep! You can listen to samples or order CDs at www.greghowlett.com/order.aspx

Lamplighter Theatre’s audiobooks (CDs): Well crafted stories that teach Christian principles, morals, and values. How do you live the Christ life in hard situations? Does God truly work all things together for good to those who love Him? (Romans 8:28) What are the consequences of denying the Lord and living for self? These stories present good lessons, and we have grown from hearing them. (These stories are individual, not in a series.) They are also available as books, but we have really enjoyed the audio version. These CDs can be pricey, but watch for sales. These stories are definitely worth hearing. Available at http://www.lamplighterpublishing.com/ or http://www.visionforum.com/browse/productlist/?search=lamplighter

My Utmost for His Highest—by Oswald Chambers: A daily devotional book that has been so helpful to me. Of course, some days when I read it I say to myself, “I just don’t quite understand the point of this one,” but often it does speak to my heart with its truths from God’s word. This should be available at most Christian book stores, or on amazon.com.
